Dear Ward 5 Voter –

We are a group of moms who are joining parents across our community in supporting Marcony Almeida-Barros for reelection to the School Committee, representing Ward 5.

We have worked with Marcony on several issues. We have seen how effective and hard-working he is.

First, he is always available and highly responsive to parent questions. He is the first School Committee member we can ever remember who held office hours. He is happy to get to work on an issue and fights hard to be a voice for parents, grandparents, and loved ones of our school children.

Second, he has brought lots of funding to our schools. Since 2018, he worked with the Mass Housing and Shelter Alliance to bring in over $70,000 to develop a special program to help students and their families in housing crisis. These funds help cover expenses for food and housing – improving absenteeism, school grades and graduation rates.

Earlier this year, Marcony lobbied the state and with the help of State Senator DiDomenico, Everett was able to receive an additional $25,000 in the state budget to help fund this program.

And when the Covid crisis hit, Marcony was at the forefront in responding. He helped obtain 12,000 disposable masks and 4,000 N-95 masks to our schools – a donation worth over $40,000! He also secured 1,000 sanitizer stands used in all school buildings and helped coordinate a vaccination bus to Everett High to vaccinate students, teachers, and families.

Simply put, Marcony gets results for our children and schools.

Please join us in supporting him so he can continue his hard work for our community.
